Vision 2021

UAE Vision 2021 was launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the end of a Cabinet meeting in 2010.

The Vision’s goal is to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by the 50th anniversary of the Union. To make this goal a reality, the Vision is based on six main national priorities that focus on the key areas where the government will take action in the coming years.

Preface

The United Arab Emirates owes much of its success to the determination, wisdom, and forward-thinking of its founding fathers. In the early days, they carefully used the country’s resources to plan and build a nation that would grow and succeed. Their efforts created a modern and progressive nation where the Emirati people could benefit from development. Since then, the UAE has achieved many remarkable accomplishments and is now one of the most advanced nations in the world. Emiratis enjoy many benefits from this rapid development, all while maintaining their society, culture, and way of life.

This Vision sets the direction for the next phase of the UAE’s journey, leading up to the year 2021 when the country will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its union. While the Vision is inspired by the principles of the founding fathers, it is also guided by the National Work Program launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, and supported by the rulers of the Emirates and members of the Federal Supreme Council.

As we look to the future, we are ready to face challenges with confidence, optimism, and determination. These challenges include maintaining strong family and community bonds, improving our economic competitiveness, protecting our national identity, and tackling issues in health, education, the environment, and overall well-being. A country like ours cannot rely only on past achievements to succeed. We must work harder, be more innovative, organized, and proactive in addressing future trends and challenges. We will start by carefully analyzing our current situation, taking into account changes happening in the region and the world.

We are committed to overcoming all challenges, ensuring that future generations inherit a legacy of prosperity, security, stability, and a life full of dignity and respect—just as our founders intended.

May Allah guide us on this important journey.

National Agenda

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched a seven-year National Agenda leading to the UAE Vision 2021, which will coincide with the UAE’s 50th National Day.

The UAE National Agenda was developed by more than 300 officials from 90 federal and local government entities. It includes national goals for education, healthcare, economy, police and security, justice, society, housing, infrastructure, and government services.

These goals are long-term and will be used to measure performance in each of the national priorities. They also compare the UAE’s performance against global standards. Government leaders will regularly monitor these goals to make sure they are achieved by 2021.
